Enrolments Policy & Criteria

Enrolment Policy

St Bonaventure’s College provides high-quality Catholic education, guided by the charism of St Francis of Assisi. Through a holistic educational experience, the College seeks to renew and empower students, staff, and parents in the Church’s ministry, complementing the role of the Brisbane Archdiocese. Recognising families as the first educators, the College fosters a partnership to help all community members grow in their knowledge and love of God and embrace the Gospel. It is intended that these guidelines provide a transparent and consistent reference point to both those seeking enrolment and those responsible for enrolment at the College.

Enrolment Principles

  1. Enrolment at St Bonaventure’s College involves a formal application and enrolment process which includes an application fee and, if successful, an acceptance fee.
  2. St Bonaventure’s College seeks students and families who commit to the values of the College and who are willing to support and contribute positively to the life of the College. Accordingly, a process of discernment regarding the offer of enrolment will be undertaken by the College following receipt of an enrolment application. An enrolment application will not proceed without all relevant documentation being provided by the family.
  3. Based on availability of positions, each application will progress through a discernment process with priority normally given to:
    1. Baptised Catholic children from the Regents Park Parish
    2. Baptised Catholic children from other local Catholic communities and children from Catholic families
    3. Siblings of students currently enrolled at the College
    4. Children from local Catholic Primary Schools
    5. Children from families from another or no faith tradition who are willing to commit to the values of the College and who are willing to support and contribute positively to the life of the College.

    Additional considerations include:

      • The student's educational and behavioural history
      • The parent/caregiver's commitment to support College policies and processes
      • The parent/caregiver's commitment to meeting the payment of College fees and levies
  4. Acceptance of an application form will not guarantee an enrolment interview or an offer of enrolment.
  5. Families will be required to declare that, to the best of their knowledge, they have:
    1. Disclosed any additional needs of the prospective student, including learning, medical, social, emotional or physical.
    2. Provided a copy of any parenting or court orders that relate to the prospective student.
  6. The College is an inclusive community which recognises and celebrates the God-given uniqueness of each student and is committed to meeting the diversity of strengths and needs of our students. Enrolments for students identified as students with additional needs, will be processed using the approved Brisbane Catholic Education (BCE) Enrolment Application Support Process (EASP).
  7. If a family deliberately withholds information relevant to the application process, the Principal reserves the right, in consultation with Brisbane Catholic Education, to refuse or terminate the enrolment.
  8. On acceptance of a place at St Bonaventure’s College, families are deemed to have accepted the College’s values of Joy, Courage, and Love, and to endorse and support: high expectations for learning and learning engagement; College events; Camps (where applicable) and Retreat programs; positive standards of uniform and behaviour; sporting programs; and the College’s Religious Education programs.
  9. The decision on whether a student is to be enrolled will ideally be made in partnership with the family based on the College’s ability to cater for the student’s needs. Final decisions are made by the Principal in accordance with this policy, and various other Brisbane Catholic Education policies.
  10. The College maintains the right to reserve enrolment places for Catholic families new to the area
  11. Ongoing enrolment of all students is subject to students and families meeting College expectations.
Non-disclosure of any information relevant to the application for enrolment may result in discontinuation of the enrolment process or withdrawal of a student's enrolment.
